"Björn is an internationally recognized arbitration specialist with extensive experience in arbitrations across Europe, North America, the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
As Counsel he has represented clients in arbitration proceedings in a broad variety of disputes, but primarily in infrastructure and construction disputes as well as commodity, trade and shareholder disputes. Until 2017 Bjorn was a partner with an international law firm based in Dubai and since then primarily sits as arbitrator in a broad range of disputes throughout the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
Being dually qualified in Australia (Barrister & Solicitor) and in Germany (Rechtsanwalt) and admitted to the DIFC Courts (Part II), Björn has experience in both in Civil Law and Common Law matters. Before moving to Dubai in 2011 he practiced in Sydney, London, Munich and Frankfurt.
Euromoney has ranked Björn as one of the World’s Leading Arbitration and Construction Lawyers. Who’s Who Legal has also ranked him as one of the world’s leading mediation specialists in 2014 and 2015.
Björn has been a member of the Arbitration Rules Committee of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) and was responsible for the drafting of the ACICA Arbitration Rules and its subsequent revisions. He is also a founding member and previous chair of the Asia-Pacific Forum for International Arbitration (AFIA) and a board member of the Global Advisory Board International Centre for Dispute Resolution Y&I in New York."
